Phases 11 and 12 of South Pars Project Tenders to Be Issued Soon: Energy Compass

LONDON Tenders for final phases of developing the giant South Pars gas field in Iran are to be issued soon, claimed an energy weekly based in London.
In its latest issue Energy Compass quoted Iran's Pars Oil & Gas Company saying that the tenders for these latest phases of the this huge gas project "are to be issued in about eighth months".
These phases "are to be developed for LNG exports" it added without giving more details.
The news comes a weeks after Italy's Agip, a subsidiary of ENI, and Iranian firm, Petro-Pars, signed a $3.8 billion contract for the development of the fourth and fifth Phases of South Pars Gas field.
Export of the parts of South Pars gas reserves, estimated at 10 trillion cubic meters equivalent to 6 percent of world's gas reserves, is the drive behind a memorandum of understanding that was signed on Wednesday between Iran's Engineering and Oil Industry Company (EIOC) and BG (British Gas) International.
According to the company's spokeswoman BG is seeking to "take forward its investment ambitions in Iran" with this cooperation agreement, which is to last 18 months.
The company has also been "talking" to Iranian authorities for "over a year" about "building a $1-1.5 billion LNG project at Iran's Kish Island" reported Energy Compass.
The aim of this project is to "export 3-6 million tons per year of LNG to India" it added.
